Lessen the Appearance of Stretch Marks with Olive Oil

Did you know that Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) is an absolute mainstay for women who are pregnant and for new mothers to help them in the care of their babies?    I offer many mommy and baby tips in my chapter on Pregnancy and Baby Care with Olive Oil in my book, The Passionate Olive – 101 Things to do with Olive Oil. Here’s a tip for mommy: Lessen the Appearance of Stretch Marks with Olive Oil.

Over 90% of all pregnant women will get stretch marks.  The good news is that for most women these unwanted marks will fade after pregnancy.  How prone you are to getting stretch marks has a great deal to do with both individual skin type and genetics.  While it is difficult to prevent stretch marks, here are a couple of anti-stretch mark formulas that will not only soothe a new mother’s ever expanding skin, but according to some women, stretch marks may actually lessen, when applied daily.

Anti-Stretch Mark Formula #1: Apply a mixture of equal parts of warm EVOO and pure cocoa butter on the stomach, buttocks and breast areas.

Anti-Stretch Mark Formula #2: Combine the following:

  • ½ cup EVOO
  • ½ cup aloe vera gel
  • 6 capsules Vitamin E oil (opened)
  • 4 capsules Vitamin A oil (opened)
  • Keep refrigerated; warm the cream before applying
  • Apply daily

Another tip to try in the battle to lessen the appearance of stretch marks is to mix a small amount of olive oil and a small amount of self-tanning lotion. Apply this mixture directly to the stretch marks and they will be less noticeable in appearance.

Yes, you can use Palmers cocoa butter with EVOO. I also suggest you get Jergens self tanning cream and mix all three. Stretch marks do turn white, so you need to use a self-tanning, as well.
