Olive Oil and Avocado Facial Mask

Olive Oil and Avocado Facial Mask

Olive Oil and Avocado Facial Mask

If you want to treat yourself to a seasonal, refreshing facial mask – just get out your EVOO and an avocado…and just wait until you see the final result!  Your friends will simply marvel.  All you need is extra virgin olive oil and a ripe avocado

  • Use 1/2 cup of extra virgin olive oil
  • Mash 1 small ripe avocado
  • Mix together to make a smooth consistency
  • Apply to the face
  • Leave on for 12 minutes
  • Rinse off and see how great your skin looks

Just know that for centuries, people of the Mediterranean have recognized the beautifying benefits of olive oil for the body, skin and hair.  In fact, the first uses of olive oil were actually on the body and not in it. In ancient Egypt, Rome and Greece, olive oil was infused with herbs and fragrant grasses to produce cosmetics as well as medicine.  Among all the natural lipids, olive oil has the most similar chemical distribution to human sebum (for non-biology majors – sebum is the body’s own natural skin lubricant).  This similarity gives olive oil a strong affinity to human skin.  Olive oil is completely safe, easily absorbed and has a cell “re-fattening” capacity.
